The importance of symbolism
When I started With Love Darling, I knew I wanted to create more than just jewellery. I wanted to tell stories—stories of hope, change, and love—and translate them into something tangible. What I didn’t realise at the time was just how much meaning these stories and symbols would bring to our customers and the artisans who craft each piece.
Every piece of jewellery in our collection begins with a story. Whether it’s the owl symbolising education or the tree of life representing growth and renewal, these symbols connect us to universal values and personal aspirations. Jewellery, for me, is a way to carry a piece of a story with you—a reminder of what matters most.
The idea of using symbols came to life when I visited India and met artisans who could create intricate designs with extraordinary craftsmanship. Together, we began to explore the concept of turning meaningful ideas into wearable art. Our first collection launched at Davos, with the Global Goals at its heart. The response was overwhelming—customers didn’t just see jewellery; they saw a mission they could connect to.
The collaboration with the Masai women in Kenya added a new dimension to our storytelling. Their beading techniques, passed down through generations, brought our designs to life with vibrant colours and unique patterns. When I first met them, I was struck by their pride and determination. These women don’t just make jewellery—they share their heritage and strength through every piece.
Symbols are universal, yet deeply personal. An anchor might represent hope for one person, while for another, it’s a reminder of staying grounded. That’s the beauty of our collections—they allow our customers to create their own connections to each piece.
In a world full of noise, symbols offer simplicity and clarity. They remind us of our values and aspirations, and they help us feel connected to a greater purpose. For With Love Darling, they’ve become the heart of our brand—a way to tell stories that resonate globally while empowering the artisans who bring them to life.
Building With Love Darling around stories and symbols has been a journey of discovery—not just of the world, but of myself. Every piece we create is a reminder that small things, like a necklace or bracelet, can carry immense meaning.
To those who wear our jewellery: thank you for making our stories your own. And to fellow entrepreneurs: never underestimate the power of a story—it might just be the foundation of your greatest success.
With Love,
