What We're Watching: The Queen's Gambit

Nobody can blame you if you spent a lot of time inside watching too much TV. Luckily, while winter rushes in and we'll be spending the holidays doing our own thing, Netflix has tons of great shows to keep us occupied. Our current favourite? The Queen's Gambit.

Based on the novel by Walter Tevis, the miniseries follows Beth Harmon, a young orphaned chess prodigy in the 1950s and 60s as she rises to fame in a male-dominated field.

Without giving too much away, the series is gorgeous, lush, and impeccably acted as we watch Beth rise from the bottom to the top while relying on her skill as a chess player. Watch for the style and substance, and stay for the amazing acting. Anya Taylor-Joy is fantastic in the role, and most importantly, she makes you really want to play chess yourself!

The Queen's Gambit is available on Netflix now.
